Welcome to the Show!

A big welcome to those who are finding their way here after Freshman orientation last week! We're in the process of freshening the place up a bit, and hope you all will stay around and be part of our program! As promised, I'm reposting the 2006-2007 schedule below the jump so that people can get a sense of what our competition schedule looks like. We'll talk more after the link...

Ok, I'm having some trouble with the "cut/paste" part of this project, so I'm reposting the link to the schedule instead. Go here and you'll find it. We'll talk when you get back. I'll wait...

Now that you've had a chance to see what our competition schedule looks like, a few answers to your questions:

1. I've already gotten several e-mails asking about potential conflicts with sports and other things like that. Don't worry about those. Over the years several of the kids in the program have participated in other sports and arts programs on, both on a school and club level. The other coaches and I are pretty good about splitting the kids when the conflicts occur. As long as the kids are taking care of their work, we can deal with the rest.

2. The new schedule will be ready shortly after school gets out, I believe. the Kern Region Forensics League is getting ready for its Spring meeting (where we make out the new schedule), so that will be nailed down soon.

Other questions? Please don't hesitate to get in touch, either here or via e-mail, and we'll talk.

Reminders for tomorrow's tournament.

Be at BHS in the cafeteria by 7:15 for check-in. Drops are at 7:30, so make sure you get your codes from me...

See you tomorrow,

Mr. Z...

Some UOP info...

UOP has pretty much all of the speech events, but they're organized differently than they are locally. For example, Thematic Interp and Impromptu are normally in different patterns, but at UOP, they're in the same pattern.

We'll be talking more about UOP this week.

Vote!

Ok, Folks. We're going to vote on the slogan for the new t-shirt tomorrow in class. Or maybe Monday, if I can't get the ballots copied in time. Anyway, it'll be soon. Work hard to prepare for the tournament! Fortune favors the bold! Etc!

Voot!

Attention, Kerry Robbins...

...if you're out there, and I know you are, drop me an e-mail on my home address, please. Computer problems accidentally purged my home address book, and I'd like to talk to you...

Thanks,
Ziegler

Test...

Ignore this one. It's simply a test. Voot!

Get 'em in...

Get your suggestions for the shirts in ASAP. Also, if you're interested in Patriot Invitational Staff shirts, let's make a move on it sooner than that! The tournament will be here before you know it.

Tournament Talkback...

Great job at the tournament today, everyone! As I said after awards, I'm very proud of all the work you've done over the past 2-3 weeks. We've seen some of this hard work pay off at tournament time now, so I hope we'll remember this when we're preparing for the October tournament and the UOP invitational.

A couple of people (parents and kids) mentioned that they'd like a place to talk about the tournament and things they saw and questions they had. Consider this to be that place. List anything you want to talk about in Comments, and we'll work it over.

BTW, I know PSAT is on October21, but check with your counselor or the College Board website (www. collegeboard.com) about taking the test at another school site on another date. Mrs. Mundorf in the Career Center can answer questions about that, too.

Finally, if anyone took any pictures they'd like to share, send 'em to me (either here or at school) and we'll post 'em here on the blog.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Mr. Z.
